There is a little "History" in regard to the Cottage at 4722 Garcia Avenue:
The original house that sat on this property burned to the ground sometime in the 40's.
As the story goes... In the late 40's, maybe, beginning 50's at what is now the Sarasota Bradenton Airport... before it was the Airport, it was an Army Base for Training Fighter Pilots for the War. After the War the Army Fighter Pilot's Command Center decided to give away the Barracks that housed the pilots to anyone that would move them because they were going to turn the location into The Sarasota Bradenton Airport.
Well, the story has it that who ever owned this property at the time took one and placed it here. They made the Pilot Army Barracks into a Florida Cottage. Which stands in the front of the property, today.
Probably thousands of our gallant young men that fought and died during the war lived in this house. That time period was probably around the late 40's when wholesome young men still had polite manners & were filled with gallantly handsome "ideals" & high hopes of protecting this country and fighting for our glorious and almighty FREEDOM.... It is said that laughter and sounds of the chatter of young men talking and bursting with furver can be heard now and then by people that have stayed over night in this house.
So many people have found the Cottage to possess activity of a spiritual kind that a formal Professional Paranormal Investigation had been documented. Very delibrate glowing orbs were seen during the investigation with T.V. Camera Crew and Command Center and were downloaded to CD's. One investigator actually lost his balance when an orb darted in front of him. I saw that, myself, on the TV screen. Gifted sensitives have seen many energy orbs in the home, too. Gifted people have felt the playfulness of the presence there; however, not enough evidence was gathered by the Film Crew to determine the house was haunted. You may see the documentation by request.
Sure did sound like a ton of fun going on in there at times. Guests have heard that playful laughter of the spirits there. Of course! There were many young, light hearted, courageous and daring men that lived there full of hopes & dreams of saving the World!! That may be the "Energy Orbs" seen on the special cameras. My Mother said she heard them, too; and said they were so happy that it made her feel safe and secure to be there. She said she wished she would have moved to Florida with me sooner than she did. She never imagined it could be so easy going here...
Mom passed away a short time, ago. I took care of her for over 6 years. She died in her own bed at home as she wished. As I held her gently in my arms and with the sweetest little smile on her blessed face she passed away and in a dear soft tone her last words to me were..... "Will you be all right? I've got to go, now. They are all calling me...... " A more tender moment you will never experience. So many Angelic Spirits can be felt in this home. Everyone that experienced anything in the Cottage has said it's all good...... They can "feel" the love that exists here.!
Note: Later, in early '93 I made more improvements to the Cottage and updated plumbing, put on a new roof, added a carport, changed wiring, turned all to electric, etc. and turned it into my home for the past almost 15 years! In 2000 I had a new 2 story addition built in back behind the metal shed and laundry room.
